"How
can a parenting book help build the self esteem
of a child
without first building the self esteem of the
parents?"

Agreeing
On Child Discipline
Single
parents have an advantage as they do not
have to coordinate their child discipline
efforts with another person. It is hard
enough to discipline your child alone
but how do you and your partner
discipline together? In order for the
household to seem together and in
unison, the children always need to feel
both parents are in agreement with each
other, even if behind closed doors you
are not. "Children need and want
parental guidance while being treated
with love and respect. Disciplinary
rules should not be abstract, complex,
or unclear. " (Campbell 205) So,
how do you agree on appropriate child discipline for your child when you can
not agree to watch the same television
shows, where to eat, the color to paint
the living room, etc.?
