Around the holidays
and especially during Mother's Day and Fathers Day,
children, mothers and fathers all ask me if I know of
any easy crafts for kids to do on their own or easy
crafts kids could complete with their mothers and
fathers. My quest to find easy crafts for kids began and
ended on the internet with the book, "Little Kid
Crafts For All Seasons". This book is filled with
easy crafts for kids that offer children and their
mothers and fathers easy crafts to complete with help

Mothers & Fathers Must Learn That
Easy Crafts For Kids Can Be Completed By Their Children On Their
Own
During Mommy-And-Me classes I
observed many mothers and fathers creating beautiful crafts for
their children for Mother's Day or Father's Day. Not only would
they complete the crafts for their kids, mothers and fathers
would discourage their children from touching the kids crafts at
all! The sad, yet strangely hysterical, point worth noting about
my observations was that the mothers and fathers wrote the kids
name and date on the completed crafts. These were not crafts
completed by the kids and yet the mothers and fathers treated
the crafts as if the kids created the crafts for Mother's Day or
Fathers Day on their own.

When Mothers & Fathers Complete The Easy

Holiday, Mothers & Fathers Are Harming The Self Esteem Of
Their Children
A few months into the class, I
observed these same children doing everything but crafts during
crafts time. The children learned they could not complete the
crafts on their own and if they tried to help their mothers and
fathers with the crafts, they were directed to create what their
mothers and fathers envisioned. Many of the children did not
enjoy creating the crafts and the mothers and fathers could not
understand why. The mothers and fathers never realized how their
actions created their kids disinterest. Their kids felt
discouraged and inadequate because the mothers and fathers never
let the kids create their own crafts.
